He was a son of Francis William Jackson and Lucinda Beasley. He was first married to Eliza Jane Unknown and had two children. This marriage must have ended in divorce, since they both re-married. He next married Amanda Catherine Dunaven, on March 4, 1858 in Pike county, Illinois.

a.) Plinny Dunaven b. 1886 d. Aug. 15, 1904 when he and his father were struck by lightning at Pleasant Hill, Pike County, Illinois. He is buried at Wells Cemetery, Pleasant Hill, Pike county, Illinois.
b.) Ralph Jackson Dunaven b. Dec. 22, 1894 at Pleasant Hill, Pike County, Illinois and died Feb. 28, 1984 in Pensacola, Escambia County, Florida. He married Katie Marie Windmiller on Sept. 18, 1930 in Louisiana, Pike County, Missouri and they are both buried at Crescent Heights Cemetery, Pleasant Hill, Pike County, Illinois.

2.) Margaret J. Jackson b. April 20, 1861 and d. March 20, 1864. Buried at Sapp Cemetery, Pleasant Hill, Pike Co. IL.

3.) James F. Jackson b. Dec. 8, 1862 and d. Dec. 21, 1862. Buried at Sapp Cemetery, Pleasant Hill, Pike Co. IL.

4.) Carrie Jackson b. Aug. 1864 Pike County, Illinois and d. July 4, 1855 Pike County, Missouri. She married Julian Orlando Gay on April 17, 1881 in Pike County, Illinois.

5.) Ida Jackson b. Dec. 5, 1865 in Pleasant Hill, Pike County, Illinois and died April 6, 1866 in Pleasant Hill, Pike County, Illinois. Buried at Sapp Cemetery, Pleasant Hill, Pike County, Illinois.
