facts on father
Thomas Barnet Allison was born 9 Jul 1830; was married to Mary E. Chapman 8 Mar 1851. He raised a large family, all religious. He himself, though he never joined the Church till he was 50 years old, was always a moral man, and very charitable to the needy--in fact, it was often thought too much so for his own good. He was strong, brave, cheerful, & ambitious, but gentle & kind as a child. Although the exterior was rough, all men credited him with having a "big soul" He was very attentive to the sick, & was patient in all his own sufferings need being heard to utter a word of complaint. He was perfectily submissive to the will of God. He was a member of the Methodist Church. Honored & loved by his fellow-men, a thousand unfortunate ones will rise up to call him blessed. Home & friends feel a great loss. A good man has gone. He loved life dearly, but was not a particle frightened at the call of death. It cam 18 Jun 1886, at his home in Shelbyville, TN. Peace to his ashes
