EDINBURG, PA. – Ronald L. Benedict, 74, of Clay Street, passed away the morning of Nov. 18, 2012, at his residence.

He was born Oct. 1, 1938, in New Castle, Pa. and was the son of the late Leo F. and Edith L. Bidinotto Benedict.

He is survived by his wife, the former Marie Minetti, whom he married Sept. 6, 1958.

Mr. Benedict was a retired welder and had worked for both Carbon-Limestone and Essroc Cement.

He was an active member of Christ the King Parish, its men's club and enjoyed making Easter bread for the church.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler, Pirate and Penguin fan. He enjoyed bowling and loved to sing.

Ronald was a former president and current member of the Eintracht Singing Society and a member of the Eintracht Maennerchor. He was a trustee for the National Alliance Transylvanian Saxons and a member of the New Castle Saxons bowling team.

Ronald was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His greatest joy was the time spent with his family and he loved attending all his children and grandchildren's activities.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, John Benedict and wife Betty of Edinburg; three daughters, Christine Hennon and husband Rich of Bessemer, Pa., Connie Verlotte and husband Brett of Bessemer and Cyndee Patton and husband Rich of Edinburg; one uncle, Frank Bidinotto of New Castle; two sisters, Joan Pezzuolo and husband John of Hillsville, Pa. and Elaine Zarlingo and husband Gary of Lowellville; eight grandchildren, Stephanie, Valerie, Ashlie, Jimmy, Shannon, Melissa, Jared and Jason; two step-grandchildren, Scott and Sarah; and one great granddaughter, Scarlet.

Interment will be at St. Lawrence Cemetery.
