Ciliane Marie Prebensen (Celiana/Annie) was born on the 24th November, 1860 in the parish of Ødsted, Denmark. She was baptised the following day before being formally baptised at the Ødsted Church on the 3rd March, 1861. Ciliane emigrated from Denmark on the 20th May, 1873 with her father Jens Prebensen, mother Ane Nielsen with her five siblings to New Zealand.
After Ciliane arrived at Greytown with her family, she married Peder Beck (Peter) on the 10th April, 1876 at Greytown. Peder was born on the 12th March, 1844. It was believed that Peder Beck had jumped ship.
They became parents one baby girl; Anna S. Beck (Annie), born on the 2nd April, 1876 at Greytown. They then lived at Papawai (near Greytown) for a further six years before deciding to immigrate to San Francisco, in the United States of America, in 1883. They had no other children.
