Dale Harold Bishop of Battle Creek, age 95, passed away Monday, October 29, 2012. He was born June 29, 1917 in North Plains Township, Michigan the son of Ethan Lovell and Sadie Ethel (Barnum) Bishop. Mr. Bishop was a 1937 graduate of Bellevue High School and participated in post graduate courses at Hastings schools. He served in the U.S. Air Force from June 8, 1941 until December 18, 1945. On June 9, 1946 he was married to Ortha (Hawblitz) in Barry County, who survives. Also surviving are two children: Douglas (Linda) Bishop of Coldwater and Nyla (Andrew) Kavalhuna of Battle Creek; four grandchildren: James (Carolyn) Kavalhuna of Marshall, Daniel (Diane) Kavalhuna of Pea Ridge, Arkansas, Christopher (Lynn) Bishop of Southborough, Massachusetts and Erin Bishop of Coldwater; and three great-grandchildren: Kaden Kavalhuna, Gia Kavalhuna and Brandon Bishop. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Elois Woolston and Eleanor Johnson and one brother Arlo Bishop. He was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist where he had served as Trustee Chairman and Finance Chairman. Prior to his retirement in 1982, he was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for over 30 years. He enjoyed painting, traveling, playing cards and puzzles. The most important aspects of his life were faith, family and friends. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday at Trinity United Methodist Church, 10 West Bidwell Street with Rev. Bruce Kintigh officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the Richard A.
