Found in The State 10 April 1919: Col. D. P. Duncan of Shandon, received word Tuesday night of the death of his wife at the home of her daughter, Mrs. H. N. Eaton of Ithaca, N. Y., whom Mrs. Duncan was visiting at the time of her death. Mrs. Duncan had been in New York about three weeks with her daughter and was expecting to return home soon. She was a lovable woman and esteemed for her high character by many friends. She was a member of the Shandon Presbyterian Church and had taken a keen interest in the activities of the church and social life of the community. Surviving are her husband, one son, James Duncan, a student at Harvard University, three daughters, Mrs. E. J. Brennen. Mrs. E. L. Reeves of Columbia and Mrs. H. N. Eaton of Ithaca, N. Y. The remains are expected to reach here today accompanied by James Duncan and Mrs. Eaton. They will be interred in Elmwood Cemetery, the hour depending upon the arrival of the body today.
