Roby - Max Odell Stuart, 87, died Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at Fisher County Hospital.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 12, 2004 at the First Baptist Church of Roby with Bro. Jerry Vincent and Jason Alton officiating. Arrangements under direction of Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home in Rotan.
Born September 22, 1916 in Roby, Max was a sons of the late Jeff Davis and Mamie Teel Stuart. He married Lorene Curlee on March 21, 1936 in the Baptist parsonage in Roby.
As a child, Max was very active in farming and ranching, and in 1934, he won the National Livestock Judging Competition. He continued to be active in FFA and 4-H and judged many livestock shows. He was also director and president of the Roby Fair and Rodeo Association and served on the board of directors of the Farmers Union Coop Gin.
He is preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Rabon, George, L. L., Coy, Tommy and Cub Stuart; and three sisters, Lucille Carter, Eva Nell Dennis and Marjorie McCuistion.
Survivors include his wife, Lorene, of Roby; a son and daughter-in-law, Freddie Max and LoVelle Stuart of Roby; one daughter and son-in-law, Gloria Lou and Ted Posey of Rotan; one sister, Emma Lee Collier of Lubbock; six grandchildren, David Posey, Jeff Posey, Cindy Putnam, Terry McWilliams, Brad Stuart and Britt Stuart; and 17 great-grandchildren.
