OSCAR F. PARIS
Oscar F. Paris, an old resident of this city and a highly respected citizen, died at his home early Saturday morning, May 18th, as the result of a paralytic stroke about fifteen hours before.
Mr. Paris had been in poor health for the past year, and had been especially poorly for some two months but was thought to be improving, when the final stroke came. He regained consciousness an hour before his death and remained conscious until the end.
The funeral was held from the Methodist church Monday afternoon at 2:30. The services were conducted by Rev. C. A. Kitch, the pastor. Interment was in the Larned cemetery.
Oscar F. Paris was born at Greencastle, Ind., Oct. 25, 1848, and was aged 63 years, 6 months and 23 days at the time of his death.
He was married to Augusta E. Whelan Dec. 25, 1872. To this union were born four children, three sons and one daughter: Lawrence A. of Pueblo, Colo., Marcus Webb, Howard Edgar and Olive Blanche, all of Larned.
He moved with his family from Greencastle to DeWitt county, Ill., and from there to Larned, where they have resided since.
The deceased was converted and united with the Bethel M. E. church near Greencastle at the age of eighteen and remained steadfast in his faith and lived a faithful, consistent Christian life.
He leaves his wife and four children to mourn the loss of a loving husband and father. Besides these, four brothers still survive, three of whom were present at the funeral.
The following relatives were here for the funeral: T. H. Paris of Stillwater, Okla.; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Muck of Kinsley; Mrs. Alice Muck of Clay Center; Mr. and Mrs. S. G. Paris of Yates Center; Mr. and Mrs. Mooney of Hanston; and Lawrence Paris of Pueblo.
