33 ANS's Avro Anson I (W1672) aircraft, with an aircrew of five, was on a cross country navigation training flight when it struck Caledon Mountain and crashed, taking the lives of three members of the crew and injuring the two other airmen.

The airmen who perished in this accident were-

RAFVR Leading Aircraftman Dennis DONAHUE,

RAFVR Leading Aircraftman Denis Albert DRAYTON and

RAFVR Leading Aircraftman Reginald Allan GILLMAN.
