November 23, 1939, at the time Mr. Freeburg was working for the Union Oil Co. Later he and his brother Leonard built and ran a full service gas and auto repair station. In the Early 1940's he also served as the fire Chief in La Crosse(for 8 years). He was a member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, and had served as its president. Lloyd has been in business since 1952 as the owner and manager of Freeburg's Self Service Gas Co., U-Haul Rental Service and Softwater Company. He prided himself as a salesman and businessman.
Lloyd taught himself to play the Piano, Organ, and Violin and enjoyed playing and listening to music. He liked to keep his mind active by reading scientific and technical magazines and by completing jigsaw puzzles. Lloyd was a charter member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church and served on the building committee for the chapel on the hill. He was also founder and past president of the Washington Gasoline Dealers Association.
He is survived by his wife, Ester J. Freeburg, one son, David L. (Jenny) Freeburg; 2 daughters, Katharine J. (Roger) Swenson and Elizabeth S. (Darryl) Jones, 9 grandchildren Charlie, Patrick, Jeff, Chris, Kim, Tana, Tori, Traci, and Trista and 13 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Ethel A. Mueller.
Lloyd is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Leonard E. Freeburg.
