ASSONET — Anthony R. Mello, 74 years old, died on Monday Nov. 12, 2012 in the VA Medical Center, Brockton. He was born in San Miguel, Azores son of the late Carlos and Maria (DosAnjos Rezendes Fagundo) Mello. Anthony was educated in Azorean Schools as well as Taunton and at the Minnesota School of Art. He was a former car salesman having worked in Taunton, Fall River and Bridgewater. He also worked at Benny's in Raynham and at the Shaw's in Fall River. He enjoyed boxing as a youth and as an adult he liked fishing, singing, painting, going to YMCA and the Fall River Elks and all sports. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Virginia T (Barboza) Mello of Assonet. He is the father of Deborah Ann Lima of Swansea and twin daughters Cynthia Souza and her friend Anthony Fibrizio of Assonet and Anita Mello Baddeley and her husband Robert of Assonet. He is the grandfather of Stephanie Souza of Fall River and Jennifer Neto of NV and the great grandfather of Isaiah Sousa. Anthony is the brother of Carlos Mello an his wife Anna of AZ, Frank Mello and his wife Joan of Attleboro and Henry Mello and his wife Margaret of Taunton and the brother in law of Geoffrey De Frias and his wife Geraldine of Assonet. He was the brother of the late Joseph Mello and is the uncle of several. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral from the Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Ave., (Route 138 South) Taunton on Monday at 9AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St Bernard's Church Assonet at 10 AM.
