James G. Buckley, formerly of city, prominent Mason

James Garfield Buckley, 60, of Main Street, West Dennis, formerly of Brockton and Braintree, prominent Mason, died unexpectedly early this morning at his home. He was the husband of Mariana E. (Garrity) Buckley.
He was born in Boston, the son of the late James. F. and Helen (Garfield) Buckley, and was educated in Brockton schools, graduating from Brockton High School with the Class of 1937. He was a graduate of Brown University, Class of 1942, and Bentley College, 1947. He had a wide circle of friends.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the 10th U. S. Air Force in India.
Buckley was a consultant to Proctor Ellison Company, Boston, and Mildred's Chowder House, Hyannis.
He was a fellow of the American Society of CPA's and was a director of the Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank.
He was a member and former officer of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company.
Buckley was affiliated with many Masonic organizations in which he held numerous offices, and was a dedicated worker. He was District Deputy grand Master of Masons, Fourth Masonic District, at the time of his death. He was a member of both Scottish Rite and York Rite bodies.
He was Past Master of Union Lodge, AF & AM, Milton, and its present treasurer, where the Rt. Wor. James G. Buckley Memorial Fund is being established. He also was affiliated with Mt. Holyoke Lodge, AF & AM, South Hadley Falls, and Mt. Holyoke Royal Arch Chapter of Holyoke. He later affiliated with Delta Lodge, AF & AM, in Braintree, while a resident of that community after he moved there from Brockton.
On Wednesday evening of this week Buckley was installed as Illustrious Master of Cape Cod Council, Royal and Select Masters. He also was a member of Brockton Council, Royal and Select Masters; Bay State Commandery No. 38, Brockton; Aleppo Temple, Shrine, and was past president of the Cape Cod Shrine Club. He was a member of Boston Court No. 103, Royal Order of Jesters.
He was treasurer of Pilgrim Congregational Church, Harwich, and was a life member of the Mayflower Descendants Association.
Buckley is survived by his wife, Mariana E. (Garrity) Buckley of West Dennis; his daughter, Mrs. Geoffrey (Prudence) Goodale, of Milton; his brother, Attorney Charles Porter Buckley of Easton, and three grandsons, Geoffrey, Nathaniel, and Douglas James Goodale, all of Milton; and three nephews.
The funeral service will be held on Monday in the Pilgrim Congregational Church, Main Street, Harwichport, at 11 a.m. Interment will be in the family lot in Union Cemetery, Brockton.
Arrangements are by the McHoul Funeral Home, 354 Adams St. at Neponset Avenue, Dorchester, where a Masonic service will be held Sunday at 8 p.m.
