Kathryn M. Pierce (nee Grugel), 79, of Elyria died at home Saturday after a long illness.
Born in Amherst where she graduated from Amherst High School, she lived in Elyria since 1930.
Mrs. Pierce worked many years for Carl Robinson Dry Cleaners.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Elyria and Salvation Army Senior Citizens Golden Age Club.
She was a life member of Eyria Woman's Club and volunteered for American Red Cross, American Heart Association and many civic-fund-raising drives.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and cooking.
Survivors include her husband, Stephen; a son, David of Racine, Wisc.; a daughter, Diane Pierce Klein of South Amherst; a grandchild; a great-great-grandchild; and a brother, Norman Grugel of Orrville.
Mrs. Pierce was preceded in death by a son, John, and brothers, Leonard and Harold.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Crownhill Cemetery, Amherst, with the Rev. Walter Niermann officiating.
Memorial may be made to American Cancer Society, 43099 N. Ridge Rd. Lorain or Hospice Unit c/o St. Joseph Hospital, 205 W. 20th St. Lorain.
Curtis-Scheuffler Funeral Services, Busch Family Chapel, 114 Second St. Elyria, is in charge of arrangements.
