The Southern Illinoisan, Monday, June 5, 1961, JOHN WHITLOW DIES SERVICES WEDNESDAY
Johm M. Whitlow, 67, Valier, died at 2 a.m. Sunday in the Marion Veterans Hospital. He was a WW I veteran, member of the Hazel Dell Church and American Legion post of Christopher. He leaves his wife Ruby; sons, George and Marion, both of Kankakee; daughters Mrs. Loraine Burkitt, Mrs. Lillian Fasit, (sic.) Mrs. Venita Shockley, all of Kankakee; brothers, Ira and David both of Whittington; sister, Mrs. Noie Kirkpatrick of Sesser, Mrs. Lola Blanton of Whittington and 11 grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Hazel Dell Church with the Rev. Jimmy Hicks and the Rev. Charles Holloway officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery, Whittington. Friends may call at Russell Funeral Home, Christopher, after 7 p.m. today.
