A funeral service for Clifton L. Alexander, age 85, of Sulphur Springs, will be conducted at League Street Church of Christ, at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 20, 2012, with Alvis Nichols and Buddy Wiggins officiating. Interment will follow at Brashear Cemetery with Haddon Alexander, Alex Johnson, Brian Herrera, Collin Alexander, Grant Alexander, Joel Thompson, Andrew Belcher and Kevin Hatcher serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, November 19, 2012 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Clifton L. Alexander passed away at Rock Creek Health and Rehabilitation Saturday morning, November 17, 2012. He was born in Collin County on June 28, 1927, the son of Arthur E. Alexander and Myrtle (Terrell) Alexander. He married Marieta Joyce Noble in Dallas on May 14, 1954; she survives. He graduated from Greenville High School in 1945 and Draughn Business College. He worked for the United States Postal Service and Federal Reserve Bank before buying a dairy farm in Hopkins County in 1959. The dairy farm had 17 dairy cows and was developed into the nation's largest registered Brown Swiss farm before dispersing in 1995. He served on the National Brown Swiss Board of Directors, Texas Dairy Herd Improvement Association and Texas Department of Agriculture Advisory Board. He was a member of the National Braunvieh Association, Texas Brown Swiss and National Brown Swiss Association and Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce. He was Hopkins County Farmer of the Year in 1982 and served as an elder of League Street Church of Christ for many years. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Other survivors include: two sons, Dwight Alexander and wife, Michelle of Sulphur Springs and Rodney Alexander and wife, Elizabeth of Franklin, Tennessee; daughter, Cynthia Johnson and husband, Rex, of Tyler; grandchildren, Grant Alexander, Collin Alexander, Joel Thompson, Julia Belcher, Kaleigh Hatcher Haddon Alexander, Hannah Alexander, Rachel Alexander, Katelyn Herrera and Alex Johnson and great-grandchildren, Perry Belcher, Benton Hatcher, Katie Alexander and Olivia Herrera. He was preceded in death by two infant brothers. Memorials may be made to the League Street Church of Christ Youth Foundation.
