Thomas Oliveto

Thomas Oliveto, 90, of Clarksburg, W.Va. died March 5, 2002 at Continuous Care.

Mr. Oliveto was born on Nov. 28, 1911 in Chiefton, W.Va., a son of the late John and Barbara Guzzo Oliveto.

He is survived by his wife, Rosina Barberio Oliveto whom he married on June 9, 1945.

Other survivors include one daughter, Barbara Joyce and her husband, Joseph of Vienna; one son, Thomas Francis Oliveto of Pompano Beach, Fla.; three sisters, Mary Costello, Angeline Tiano, and Philamenia Oliveto all of Clarksburg; one brother, Sam Oliveto and his wife, Michele of Titusville, Fla.; one brother-in-law, Mario Beasi of Clarksburg; and one sister-in-law, Mary Oliveto; four grandchildren, Dr. Joseph Joyce and his wife, Lori of Pittsburgh, Pa., Senior Trooper John Louis Joyce and wife, Beth Ann of Hamlin, W.Va., Thomas T. Joyce of Vienna, and Timothy Allen of Vienna; one great grandson, Michael Joseph Joyce of Pittsburgh, Pa.; several nieces and nephews.
Thomas was preceded in death by one brother, Battista Oliveto; and one sister, Rose Oliveto Beasi.

Mr Oliveto had been employed at Clarksburg County Club for over 27 years in management, also the Uptowner Inn, a veteran of the United States Army where he received the Purple Heart for Gallantry. A member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks # 482, the Sons of Italy Marconi Lodge, the VFW Post 573, the order of the Purple Heart and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

The family will receive friends at Bartolo Funeral Home, downtown Clarksburg form 7 - 9 p.m. today and 1-9 p.m. Friday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Cesidio J.
Federico as the Celebrant. Assisted by fathers Timothy Grazzi and Father Joseph Dene.

Entombment will follow in the Holy Cross Mausoleum. A Scriptural wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday. Full military rites will be held at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations to the Parkersburg Catholic Academic and Athletic Building Fund.
