COOKEVILLE — Funeral services for Harold Eugene Garrison, 88, of Cookeville, will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 18, in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church, 165 E. Broad Street, Cookeville. Burial will follow in Smyrna Cemetery on Dodson Branch Road.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17, at Cookeville Funeral Home.

Mr. Garrison died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, in Cumberland River Hospital in Celina of heart complications.

He was born April 11, 1924, in Gardena, Calif., to the late Lee and Cora Garrison, originally of Blackburn Fork in Jackson County.

Mr. Garrison proudly served in the Army during World War II, assigned to a troop transport ship. As such, he served in both theatres during the war.

He worked as a fleet tire salesman for Uniroyal Tire Company, where he met his future wife, Mary, in Massachusetts. After beginning work for Uniroyal in Massachusetts, his career took them to Utah, California, Nebraska, Michigan and Georgia. After retirement, they moved to Cookeville and worshipped at First United Methodist of Cookeville.

Harold enjoyed volunteer work, gardening, fishing, hunting, golf and maintaining family cemeteries. Harold and Mary were married for more than 62 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Bettye Garrison Lackey, and three brothers, Kenneth, Denver and Hoyt Garrison.
