John Middleton Moore, age 83, of Kerrville and a former long-time resident of Wellington, died Wednesday, August 19, 1998 at a Kerrville hospital.

Memorial services were held at 3 p.m. Friday, August 21, 1998 at the Chapel of Overby Funeral Home with Dr. Bill Blackburn officiating.

Burial was in the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio under the direction of Overby Funeral Home.

Mr. Moore was born in Wilbarger County, Texas September 28, 1914 to L. A. and Etta Moore. He came with his family to Wellington in 1917. John graduated from Wellington (Texas) High School with the Class of 1932. He married Clarice Harper on December 14, 1942.

He attended Texas A&M and joined the U. S. Air Force in March 1941 serving until October, 1945. He entered the Air Force Reserves in 1945, retiring as a Lt Colonel in 1964. He retired from Moulder-Oldham Co. in Tulsa.,Oklahoma in 1981. He had been a resident of Kerrville since 1981 and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church of Kerrville.

Survivors include his wife, Clarice, of the home; a daughter, Lynn, and her husband, Pat, of North Richland Hills; a grandson Kevin and his wife Shawn, of Daingerfield; granddaughter Traci McGrath of Dallas; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Howard Moore of Lubbock and Joe Moore of Coppell; three sisters, Leslie Denmead of Amarillo; Faye Duncan of Kingsland and Zo Moore of Big Spring; numerous nieces and nephews.
