William Edward "Bill" Tays, 50, of Carthage, died March 1, 1990, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson after a lengthy illness.

Born on April 23, 1939, in Booneville, MS, he was a son of the late Herbert E. and Meriam Fugitt Tays. Bill was a graduate of Booneville High School and attended Northeast Mississippi Junior College in Booneville. He was a floor manager for the Carthage Corporation, and was a peacetime veteran in the United States Air Force. He was an active member of the Carthage Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Mamie Martin Tays, a daughter, Allison Lacy Tays, and a son, Matthew William Tays, all of Carthage; three sisters: Ann Tays Lindsey of Coldwater, Virginia Tays Griffin of McComb, and Katherine Tays Greer of Memphis, TN; three brothers: Ben Tays of Carlisle, PA, Marion Tays of Baton Rouge, LA, and Gene Tays of Booneville, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Services will be at three o'clock in the afternoon on March 3 at McMillan Funeral Home in Booneville with burial in Booneville Cemetery.
