Troy Dale Dickson, 86, Crossville, Tenn.

Troy Dale Dickson, a native of Catoosa County, died Jan. 29, 2012 at his daughter's home in Crossville, Tenn. He was 86.

He was the oldest child of the late John "Alec" and Lucille Dickson; and the brother of the late Paul Dickson and Carl Dickson, all of Ringgold. He served 8 years in the Navy and 23 years in the Air Force from 1943–1974, as a Master Sergeant in the Intelligence Division.

Survivors include two daughters, Julia (Richard) Nichols of Crossville, Tenn., and Frieda (Larry) Von Werssowetz of Hewitt, N.J.; three grandsons, two granddaughters and one great-grandson; sisters, Barbara (Bob) Shields, Wilma (Bud) Scott, Audrey (Bill) Collison, Martha (Jack) Baggett, and Linda Dickson, all of Ringgold and Doris (Bill) Pitts of Tunnel Hill.

Funeral services: military tribute at the Catoosa Citizens and Veterans Memorial at the Colonnade in Ringgold, Friday, March 9 at 3 p.m., or in case of rain, at the VFW on Park City Road in Fort Oglethorpe. Memorial contributions may be made to any learning center or library for children's books.
