Parents: John Preston Rimbey 1886 – 1922 & Alvah Magdeline Geiger 1891 – 1971

Lester W. Rimbey, Age 90, of 4 Orange Street, Waverly, passed away Saturday, May 6, 2006, at his home. Born December 6, 1915 in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, the son of the late John and Alva Rimbey. He attended Sayre High School and served in the US Army during World War II, Lester married the former Helen Shermer on March 28, 1942 in Elkton, Maryland. He retired from Westinghouse Electric in 1980 after thirty years service. He is survived by his wife, Helen of 64 years; three children, Rita Rimbey of Horseheads, NY, John and Nancy Rimbey of Waverly, and Barbara Rimbey of Waverly; seven grandchildren, Andrew Rimbey, Tim (Kathy) Farwell, Gary Farwell, Jeff (Susan) Walker, Steven (Karen) Walker, Stacey (Michael) Lunger, and Debra (Matthew) Bonnett; eight great-grandchildren, Matthew, Hannah, Connor, Rachel, Savannah, Dylan, Devon, Nicholas; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his three sisters, Helen Furniss, Irene Emery and Betty Strange; his four brothers, Harold and John Rimbey, Walter and James Strange. Les enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and especially walking with his wife around Waverly. A time for gathering with family and friends will be from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2006, at Blauvelt Funeral Home, 445 Waverly Street, Waverly, NY. The celebration of Lester's life will follow the visitation with Rev. Anne Bey Canfield honoring his memory at 11 a.m. Burial at Tioga Point Cemetery in Athens, PA. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Chemung ARC, 711 Sullivan Street, Elmira, NY 14901.
