Bobby R. Dowell
Bobby Ray Dowell, 64, of 170 Rosewood Ave., Martinsville, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006, at the home of his mother at 907 Barrows Mill Road, Martinsville.
He was born July 27, 1942, in Mount Airy, N.C., to Marcella Moles Smith of Martinsville and Otis Oscar Dowell. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Gray Dowell.
He had worked for Pannill Knitting, Sara Lee and Burr Fox Specialized Woodworking, and was a member of Northside Baptist Church.
In addition to his mother, surviving are his wife, Alma Peal Dowell of the home; a daughter, Sandra Dowell Woodall of Collinsville; a son, Glen Ray Dowell of Martinsville; sister, Barbara Harden of Martinsville; two grandchildren; and a step-granddaughter.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Northside Baptist Church with Pastor Ron Peal officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Burial Park.
The family will receive friends at Norris Funeral Services from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today, and other times at the home of his mother at 907 Barrows Mill Road, Martinsville.
