Arlene Mae (Novak) Gowin
Arlene Gowin, 78, of Independence, MO passed away on October 18, 2006 at St. Luke's Hospital in Lee's Summit, MO. A visitation will be held from 2-4:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 21, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. A service will follow in the chapel at 4:00 p.m. The graveside service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 22, at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens, Salisbury Rd. Arlene worked as a bookkeeper for much of her career, but was better known as a loving wife, mom, granny and GiGi. Arlene was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter 329, initiated on January 19, 1982. She was Worthy Matron in 1986, with her husband, Bob serving as Worthy Patron. She was Grand Representative of West Virginia in 1988, and also District Deputy in 1992. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Frank B. Novak; daughter, Sandy Novak Dillon; son, Charles Novak; and a brother, Bill Meyers. She is survived by her husband, Bob Gowin of the home; children, Mark (Jan) Novak, Laura (Kenny) Sheehy, Paul Novak, Gary (Carla) Gowin, all of Independence, Marla (Frank) Thompson of Leawood, KS, Sandy Novak widow of Charles Novak, Gayla Belk, and Gina Gowin; 10 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren. Special thanks goes to all the staff at St. Luke's East, Lee's Summit. They have absolutely put the CARING back in health care.
