Jesse Burris (J.B.) Moore, 71, 1317 S. National, died Saturday, Oct. 1, 1994, at Fort Scott Mercy Hospital. He was born March 27, 1923, at Fort Scott, the son of Burt and Leona Taylor Moore. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was a 1941 graduate of Fort Scott High School and received a degree in music from Wichita State University. He taught music in his home for many years an later worked for Taylor Oil Company and Heidrick's Tru Value. He was an army veteran of World War II and was a member of Olson-Frary-Burkhart Post 1165, Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include one sister, Mary Mildred Elliott, Fulton. Mildred Sonneman, 1209 Burke, is an aunt. There are two nephews and several cousins.

The Rev. Charles Baker will conduct services at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Fort Scott National Cemetery.

Military rites will be conducted by the VFW.

Friends may meet at the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel prior to leaving for the cemetery at 9:45 a.m.


Pallbearers for the funeral Jesse Burris (J.B.) Moore were Ben Coe, Buck Pyle, Leon Peel, Norman Nation, Charles Magee and Dennis Heidrick.

Military rites were conducted Olson-Frary-Burkhart Post 1165, Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Members of the color guard were Lyal Burt, Bob Wilson, Warren Karnes and Dean Povenmire.

Perry Dobbins, Alva Lowe and R.C. Coyan conducted the flag ceremony.
