Dec. 23, 1837; married Jan. 27, 1856; has five children."

Obituary from the Bureau County Republican, November 6, 1890, page 1, column 6: "Walnut. Mr. Charles Freeman an old and respected citizen of our place, died Monday eve. Oct 24, after a severe illness of many months. The funeral occurred Thursday, from the Baptist church-Rev. Leck officiating. The family have the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community in their sad breavement." [Note: Oct 27th 1890 was a Monday, Oct. 24th was a Friday.]
