He was born in Patrick County on October 5, 1960 to Dewey R. Hughes and Margaret Ann Hughes of Stuart.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Johnny and Myrtle Spence Rogers and Hampton Hughes and Annie Hughes Harris.
He was a graduate of Patrick County High School and was employed by Sara Lee in Woolwine.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are one son, Adam Hughes of Martinsville; one sister, Marie Scott of Stuart; two brothers, James H. Hughes of Annapolis, Md, and Steve Hughes of Stuart.
Funeral services were held Monday at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with the Rev. Curtis Hall officiating. Burial was in Patrick Memorial Gardens.
