Dr. Sharon White Hawk, 64, Mission, SD, died Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at Sanford Hospital, Sioux Falls, SD.

Dr. Sharon Kay White Hawk was born on July 3, 1948, to Yvonne (Jaros) White Hawk in Rosebud, SD.

Sharon spent her childhood growing up on the family ranch just north of Mosher, SD. When she wasn't doing chores and helping with the livestock, she was off doing what she loved the most … hunting.

Upon graduating from High School in Wood, SD, she went on to college in Springfield where she began her lengthy period of studies, specializing in psychology and education. On August 7, 1970 she received her BSE. Shortly following on August 3, 1974 she received her Master's degree in Vermillion, SD at USD. Her Ed D doctorate finished out her studies as she accomplished this on December 22, 1976.

Her determination and drive led her immediately into teaching positions as well as a guidance counselor position until she finally settled into her most current position as school psychologist with the Todd County School District for over 20 years where she logged in many hours of hard work and commitment.

Words could never do justice to the unsurpassed love for her work as well as the individuals she worked with. The impact she made in and around the community will be remembered eternally.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother in infancy.
