Nancy E. Wynings, 81, longtime resident of Legion Road, Bloomsburg, was stricken at home and died several hours later early Tuesday morning, Nov. 19, 2013, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. She had been in failing health.

She was born March 13, 1932, in Catawissa, and was a daughter of the late David and Daisy Reigle Breech.

Nancy graduated from Catawissa High School in the Class of 1950. She was an outstanding high school basketball player and softball player.

She was employed at the former Regal and Emenee Shirt factories in Catawissa, and Country Maid in Danville, retiring in 1998.

Nancy was the drummer and leader of the bands, Nancy and the Melo-aires and Nancy's Convoy, for nearly 30 years.

She was a member of Christ United Lutheran Church, which she enjoyed very much. She also was a member of Catawissa American Legion Post 541 Auxiliary, Catawissa VFW Post 8306 Auxiliary, the Danville Moose, and the Catawissa Boat Club.

Nancy enjoyed quilting and was a feisty, colorful person.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Wynings, who died in 1986, ending a marital span of 35 years. She also was preceded in death by brothers: Ambrose, Robert, Fred, and Ralph Breech; sisters: Margaret Fowler; Pauline Tyson; Pearl Karns; Betty Pehowic; Charlotte Stellfox; and Patricia Eveland.

She is survived by a brother, Harry Breech, of Bloomsburg, and several nieces and nephews.

A casual dress memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 23, at 1 p.m. at Christ United Lutheran Church, 116 Church St., Catawissa, with the Rev. Gretchen Johanson, her pastor and friend, officiating. Burial next to her husband will be at the convenience of the family in Hillside Cemetery. Visitation for friends will be from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any memorials be made to Christ United Lutheran Church, 116 Church St., Catawissa, PA 17820.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Allen R. Horne Funeral Home, 193 McIntyre Road, Catawissa.
