"She was born Yolanda Maldonado on September 25, 1942 in Rodriguez, Coahuila, Mexico, the daughter of Sigifredo and Ofilia Maldonado. She grew up and attended school in Monclova, Coahuila, Mexico. She married Genaro Reyes on March 24, 1961 in Monclova. Soon after their marriage, Genaro and Yolanda moved to Mozelle in Coleman County. She worked in the Mozelle school cafeteria. She was happiest when she was working, whether it was in her flower garden or teaching people how to make tamales. She enjoyed going to all the school activities while her children were growing up. She was also a member of Voss Baptist Church.
"Survivors include her husband, Genaro Reyes of Coleman; three children, Salvador Reyes and wife, Ann, of Justin, Martha Reyes-Hewitt and husband, Tom, of Fort Worth, Henry Reyes and wife, Dr. Rebecca Reyes, of Aledo; six brothers and sisters, Mario Maldonado, Matis Maldonado, Juan Maldonado and Enedelia Lopez, all of Monclova, Coahuila, Mexico, Hector Maldonado of Grand Prairie, Manuela Medina of Dallas; five grandchildren, Kady Reyes, Dawson Reyes, Noah Reyes, Mason Reyes and Sebastian Hewitt and many nieces and nephews.
"She was preceded in death by her parents.
"Family visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday, November 19, 2012 at the funeral home."
