Sara was born in Guatemala City, Guatemala.
Sara was a determined and creative individual that was ahead of her time in many areas. Sara received education degrees in Guatemala City at a time when most women did not obtain advanced education.
Sara immigrated to New Mexico with her family in 1963. Sara received a B.A. and M.A. in Bilingual Education from the University of New Mexico. Sara taught for 54 years, had a passion for teaching young children to read and write and was loved by all her students. Sara was dedicated to her family, educating children and her faith in Christ. Her talents included intricate and beautiful crochet, complex origami and the ability to sew anything. Her humor and faith was seen in her poetry, singing and interactions with people, especially children.
Sara will be missed but will continue to be an inspiration for educational achievement and faith in Christ.
Sara was preceded in death by her parents, Dolores and Antonio López and sister, Eva Girón.
Sara is survived by daughter, Alicia Ramos Baker and her husband, Jeffery, sons, Luís A. Ramos Jr. and his wif, Carolyn, Herbert Ramos, Dwight Pablo Ramos and his wife, Pamelia and Byron Ramos, grandchildren, Alyce, Brandon, Kristy, Derrick, Karrye, Zanet, Jessica, Steffanie, Madeline and Rachel and great-grandchildren, Dasia, Kayla, Krystina, Dominic, Erik, Gabriel, Eliana and Elyjah.
Service will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at Daniels Family Funeral Services - Sara Chapel. Interment to follow at Vista Verde Memorial Park.
