KEIZER - Kyle Evan Bergeland, age 21, left his family and friends November 13, 2012, while serving in the military at Ft Hood Texas.

Kyle was born in Keizer Oregon to Henry and Corina Bergeland, the youngest of two children. He was raised in Keizer Oregon where he had lived in the same house his entire life. He graduated from McNary High School in 2009 joining the Army right after graduation. He served one 12 month tour in Afghanistan earning The Army Achievement Medal whIle over seas.

Kyle enjoyed camping, fishing, Harley Davidsons, his pet pugs and being home. He enjoyed game nights with his friends, often hosting the guys at home or playing favorite board games with his family. Kyle had a wonderful sense of humor and his laughter could be contagious. Kyle was also dating a wonderful young woman, Mickey Nichols.

Kyle is survived by his father Henry Bergeland, his mother Corina Bergeland and his older brother Tyler Bergeland. Kyle is also survived by his grandfather, aunts, uncles and cousins.

A Celebration of life will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday November 26, 2012 at City View Funeral Home. Following the service, Kyle will be laid to rest with military honors at RestLawn Memorial Gardens.

Spec. Kyle Evan Bergeland, 21, whose home of record is also listed as Keizer, Ore., entered the military in July 2009 as a M1 armor crewman. He arrived at Fort Hood in January 2010 and was assigned to 2nd Squadron, 38th Cavalry Regiment, 504th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade, Fort Hood, since June 2010.

Bergeland deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from June 2011 to May 2012.

Bergeland's awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with campaign star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO Medal and Driver and Mechanic Badge with Driver Wheeled Vehicles.

McNary High School grad has been killed while serving his country.
The family of Kyle Bergeland, 21, a 2009 McNary graduate, received notice earlier this week that their son had been killed. Bergeland had previously served overseas, but was serving in Texas at the time of his death.
Bergeland's commanding officer told the family, "Kyle was a good soldier, with a great work ethic and a great sense of humor."
Friends and teachers of the deceased at McNary were being encouraged to take advantage of counseling services.
Bergeland was the son of Corina and Henry Bergeland. No details have been released on the circumstances of his death.
Capt. Stephen Bomar with Public Affairs in the Oregon Military Department said Bergeland was serving in Fort Hood, Texas.
"His death is under investigation," Bomar said
