Jo Emily was a graduate of Columbus High School in Columbus, Texas, and Texas Lutheran University, where she was a member of the Beta Alpha Sigma sorority. She met her beloved husband Proc at TLU and they settled in Seguin. She went on to earn a master’s degree from Texas State University. Jo Emily had a long career as a high school and junior high English teacher in Seguin, beginning in 1951 and continuing until her retirement in 1980. She worked in various offices at Texas Lutheran after her retirement from public schools, until she retired for a second time in 1992 to become a full time Mimi to her much-loved grandchildren.
She was a member of Emanuel’s Lutheran Church for 60 years, serving on the Church Council and in numerous other church ministries.
She was an avid bridge player, and made numerous friendships playing in several bridge clubs. She volunteered at the Seguin library for many years. She and Proc were also members of the Convivials, a group of lifetime friends who have met for fun and fellowship for over 50 years.
Jo Emily and Proc enjoyed many years of traveling around the world together. We know he has scouted many beautiful sights and has an itinerary ready for them in heaven."
