BRADY - Melvin Gay Williams, 59, died Sunday, Jan. 5, 1997, in Brady.

Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Rest Haven Cemetery. Arrangements are by Wilkerson Funeral Home.

She was born Aug. 12, 1937, in Sylvester and had been a resident of Brady for 20 years. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

Survivors include her husband, J.L. Williams of Brady; five daughters, Sue Harper and Cynthia Stidham, both of Brady, Patricia Williams of Hamilton, Vickie Donald of Waco and Melissa Dixon of Abilene; two sons, David Williams of Brady and Leonard Williams of Overton; 24 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

From a granddaughter:
This woman was the most precious, biggest heart, most accepting, loving praying woman you could ever meet. I am thankful and blessed she had a lot to do with me being the woman I have become. I only hope I have passed even a quarter of the woman she was in the daughter I have born..
