Shirley L. (Freeman) Goss, 78, passed away peacefully at her home in Rochester on May 28, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on April 5, 1934 in Dover, she was the daughter of the late Willis L. Freeman and Beatrice Rodgers Pomerleau.

A graduate of Dover High School, Shirley resided in Rochester for the last 10 years after living in Dover for 20 years and Greenland before that. She worked 20 years for GTE Sylvania in Greenland, and 18 years for Bickford's Family Restaurant in Newington. She enjoyed yard sales, arts and crafts, interior design, her trips to Foxwoods Casino, and her canine companions Cupcake and Maggie.

Shirley is survived by three sons, Frank N. Goss III of Lebanon, Craig S. Goss of Rochester, and Gary A. Goss and his wife Cindy of Somersworth. She is also survived by three daughters, Sherry L. Parkhurst and her husband Bill of Rochester, Robin M. Goss of Rochester, and Lorri L. Spurlin and her husband Rick of Dover. She is also survived by her brother, John Davis and his wife Rachel of Madbury; two sisters, Pearl Peters of Lee and Doris Roy and her husband Ray of Rochester; 26 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased in October, 2004 by her husband of 55 years, Frank N. Goss Jr. and their three grandchildren, Clifton A. Gould III, Stephanie and Kimberly Steeves.

She will be greatly missed by her sister-in-law and best friend Pearl Vachon.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Keith, Margo, Kate and David from Wentworth Homecare and Hospice of Dover for all their help.

Shirley was dearly loved and will be sorely missed by all of her family and friends.

A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at 11am at the Pine Hill Cemetery, Central Ave, Dover, N.H.
