Lillian Rae Eitzen
HYDE PARK — Lillian Rae Eitzen, 95, a 75-year area resident and formerly of Accord, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, at St. Francis Hospital, Poughkeepsie.
Mrs. Eitzen was an employee of the Hudson River State Hospital for approximately 40 years until her retirement.
She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church for over 60 years. She was also a Sunday school teacher at St. John's and a member of the ECLA (the church's ladies auxiliary).
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Shekomeko Chapter 815, Pleasant Valley, for over 40 years; active with the Hyde Park Senior Citizens at St. James' Episcopal Church; a member of the National Grange for 60 years; and a member of the Dutchess County Pomona Grange No. 32. At one time, she was active in the Hyde Park PTA.
Born in Accord, on Sept. 3, 1907, she was the daughter of Charles and Mary Catherine Baker Osterhoudt.
On Sept. 16, 1933, in the Chapel at the Hudson River State Hospital, she married August Eitzen. Mr. Eitzen died in 1973.
Survivors include three children, Doris Howard of Cooperstown, Jay Eitzen of Hyde Park and Jo Ann D'Agostino of Hyde Park; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Lulu Booth, in 1982.
Calling hours are from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002, at Sweet's Funeral Home Inc., Route 9, Hyde Park. The Shekomeko Chapter of the Eastern Star will conduct services at 8 p.m. during the evening calling hours.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 27, 2002, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Wilbur Boulevard, Poughkeepsie.
Burial will be in the family plot at Union Cemetery, Hyde Park.
Memorial donations may be made to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 55 Wilbur Blvd., Poughkeepsie, N.Y. 12603.
