Gary L. Reeves, 69, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2012, at Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars.

Funeral services will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 17, 2012, at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. Rev. James Strickland of the Church of the Nazarene will officiate. A private family burial will follow at a later date. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. The family will be present from 5 to 7 p.m.

Gary Lee Reeves was born on August 11, 1943, in Le Mars, the son of George and Le Nora (Peterson) Reeves. He attended country school and later graduated from Le Mars High School. Following his education, Gary worked in Le Mars and Remsen, Iowa, as a mechanic.

On June 14, 1963, Gary and Linda Lorraine Bundy were united in marriage in Le Mars. Along with farming and raising livestock, Gary owned and operated Gary's Feed and Supply.

Gary was an active member of the Church of the Nazarene in Le Mars. He taught Sunday School for teens and adults and served as song leader. He was also a member of St. Luke's Caring Clowns and a part of the nursing home Sunday ministry and music volunteers. He used his musical talents in a variety of ways, including the Art Paul Accordion Festival and played his trombone and accordion at church. Gary was also a longtime member of Gideon's International.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 49 years, Linda Reeves of Le Mars; his children and their spouses, Lorraine and Daniel Cross of Elkhorn, NE, Gerald and Carmela Reeves of Winchester, OH, Leita Reiter of Le Mars, Greg Reeves of Le Mars, and Garret and Sheila Reeves of Le Mars; 21 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a sister, Audrey Reeves of Gardner, KS; and a brother, Gene and Pamela Reeves of Le Mars.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
