NAMPA — Graveside services for Mrs. Carrie Maude Spencer, 93, Route 1, Nampa, who died Friday at a Caldwell hospital, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens by George Sargent of the Jehovah's Witnesses Church of Nampa. The cortege will leave the Alsip Funeral Chapel at 1:45 p.m.
She was born Sept. 28, 1881, in Oakland, Iowa, near Council Bluffs. She was reared and attended schools in La Grande, Ore. She was graduated from Blue Mountain University, La Grande and taught school for several years in Union County, Ore. She married Charles B. Spencer on Dec. 26, 1906, in La Grande. They moved to Nampa in 1957.
She was a member of the Methodist Church, Francis Brown Auxiliary of La Grande, Blue Mountain Grange of La Grande and the Union County Historical Society of La Grande. She also was a correspondent for the La Grande Evening Observer and the Eastern Oregon Review in La Grande.
She was on the Union County election board and was a member of the Union County Fair Board.
Surviving are a son, Joseph L. of Nampa, a daughter, Juanita Willcock of Baker, Ore.; five grandchildren. Wayne L. Willcock, Slanley G. Willcock, Yvonne Mixon, Berton R. Spencer and Marilyn J. Birkholz, and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband on Dec. 20, 1966, a son, Arthur C., and a grandson.
