Paul E. "Buddy" Kirby Jr., 40, Ashville, died Wednesday at the Cleveland Clinic.

He was born in Altoona, son of Paul E. Sr. and Barbara (Beck) Kirby. He married Mary Sutton on Aug. 12, 1995, in Ashville.

Surviving are his wife; four children: Tia, Paul III, Seth and Julia, all at home; his parents of Cresson; a brother, Daniel (Amy Yob) of North Hampton; a niece and goddaughter, Gracie; his maternal grandmother, Jane Beck of Medina, Ohio; his mother-in-law, Gertrude Sutton of Ashville; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Buddy earned an associate's degree from Penn State Altoona and a bachelor's degree in engineering from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. He was employed and was a partner with Keller Engineers, Hollidaysburg, for 20 years. He attended St. Monica Catholic Church, Chest Springs, and was a member of Leadership Blair County.

Buddy enjoyed spending time with his family.

Friends will be received from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, at Gibbons Funeral Home, Ashville, where a vigil service will be held Sunday afternoon. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, at St. Monica Catholic Church, Chest Springs, the Rev. Joseph Fleming as celebrant. Committal will be at St. Thomas Cemetery, Ashville.

In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the American Red Cross in Paul's memory and please give blood.
