•CLARE, Sept. 7.— Herbert E.
Giffin passed away at the home of
Myron Colton Friday, Sept. 2, at
the age of 27 years, 4 months and
13 days. He had been sick for the
past four years with tuberculosis.
He was the son. of Archie and
Alice Dean Giffin, being born in
the town of Pierrepont . They
moved here when he was 7 years
old and nearly all the rest of his
life he had lived in Clare. For six
years he worked as a guide for
the Stillwater Club of Canton. In
December. 1923 he was married to
Beulah Colton and one child was
born to them.
He was a highly respected man
and was a great friend of every-
one. The beautiful floral offerings
and the many friends that gather-
ed to pay their last respects,
showed how well he was thought
of by all. He leaves to mourn his
loss, his widow, one son, aged 3
years. His father, mother, one
sister and two brothers. His twin
sisters died nineteen years ago.
Friends and relatives gathered
from Canton, Potsdam. Watertown,
Syracuse, Cranberry Lake, Fine.
Herman, DeKalb, Lowville and
Russell.
The services were held from the
church at DeGrasse Sunday, Sept-
ember 4. at 2 p. m. Rev. Rundell
of Russell, officiating. Burial was
in DeGrasse cemetery. The Mas-
ons, of which he was a member,
took charge of the services.
Mr. and Mrs. George Arnward
and daughter Helen of Watertown,
and Everett Colton and children of
Lowville were called here Satur-
day to attend the funeral of Her-
bert Giffin.
Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Colton and
daughter Harriet of Potsdam, re-
mained after the funeral of Her-
bert Giffin with their parents Mr.
and Mrs. Myron Colton.
