FRUIT HEIGHTS - Nathan David Porter, 83, passed away November 28, 2004 at the Life Care Center in Bountiful, Utah.

He was born on Nov 14, 1921 in Bingham, Utah to Nathan E. and Violet H. Porter. He grew up in Tooele, Utah and graduated from Tooele High School in 1940. He joined the U.S. Air Force in March of 1942 and served in World War II, flying a P-47 as a single engine fighter pilot. He completed 87 missions. Combat awards include: The Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medals and a Purple Heart. He retired as a 1st Lieutenant from the U.S. Air Force in March 1966.

He married his sweetheart Shirley Lee Jackson in Tooele, Utah on April 22, 1946. They loved to hunt, fish, but most of all travel.

He is survived by his wife Shirley of Fruit Heights; brother, Edson (Veda) Porter, Hurricane, UT; sisters Ruth Plichta, Tucson, AZ; and Josie Pannunzio, Tooele. Preceded in death by his parents and sister Berdine.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 3, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd. Friends may call Thurs. from 6-8 p.m. and from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery. e-mail condolences to the family at [email protected]
