Joyce Scarbrough, 73, of RR 1 Keenes, died at 12:10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at home.

She was born April 26, 1939, in Wayne County, daughter of Edgar Byars and Mary Ritchie. She married Larry Scarbrough on Nov. 29, 1958.

She was retired from the Wayne City Unit School and a member of the Keenes Baptist Church. She was a member of the Wayne County Lady's Home Extension and a clerk at the Hickory Hill Township. She was devoted to her family and loved bowling and gardening. She lived on the same farm for all of her life and was the 6th generation.

She is survived by her husband, Larry Scarbrough of Keenes; son-in-law, J.R. Reynolds of Mt. Vernon; daughter, Denise and husband Kendal Loker of Mountain Home, Alaska; grandchildren, Kyle and wife Kate of St. Louis and Kayla Loker and Evan of Fayetteville, Ark.; step grandson, Lyle Reynolds of Norfork, Va.; brothers, Glen Byars of Geff and Bill Byars of Bluford; sister, Joann Wolfe of Granger, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by parents and daughter, LaRita Reynolds.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. today at Richardson Funeral Home in Wayne City with the Rev. Mark Lamp officiating. Interment will be at Garrison Cemetery.

Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 3 at Richardson Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Garrison Temple Cemetery or SSM Hospice St. Marys.
