Richard E. Farrell

Salisbury—Richard E. Farrell, 88, of Salisbury, a WWII Veteran, went home to be with Jesus on Veterans Day, Sunday, November 11, 2012 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center. Born in Camden, NJ on August 5, 1924 he was the son of the late Roy and Mary Shockley Farrell.

Following High School he was drafted to the US Army where he served in Germany, France and England during WWII. Following his service he worked for Bond Bread Co., Citizens Gas Co. and Chesapeake Utilities. Richard then worked for Suburban Propane for 34 years until his retirement.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by one sister, Florence Williams and two brothers, John and Leroy Farrell.

Richard is survived by his wife of 68 years, Elsie Farrell of Salisbury; a son Philip Farrell Sr. and his wife Emily of Delmar, MD; two grandchildren, Margaret Corley and her husband Jason and Philip Farrell Jr.; three great-grandchildren, Shannon, Ricky and Chris; special friends, Mervin Disharoon and Joseph Brewton; a sister-in-law, Mary Adkins and many nieces and nephews. He will be especially missed by his loving dog, Flash.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at Holloway Funeral Home, Salisbury. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Pastor Tom Bunting will officiate. Burial, with military honors will be in Wicomico Memorial Park.

Memorial donations may be made to the Disabled Veterans National Foundation, 1020 19th St NW, Suite 475, Washington, DC 20036.
