Beattie Rowland, one of Greenville's best known citizens, died at his home 232 River Street about 2 o'clock yesterday morning, after an illness of several months.
Mr Rowland was born in Greenville in 1856 and was a descendent of the famous Butlers of South Carolina. In 1880, he married Miss Sadie Goldsmith, daughter of the late Capt William Goldsmith.
He is survived by his wife and 3 children: Mrs J D Hughey of Greenville; R B Rowland of Spartanburg; and Mrs Ashby Anderson of Walterboro, SC.
For a number of years, Mr Rowland was a city Mail Carrier here and has innumerable friends to whom the news of his death was a great shock
