Memorial service for Evelyn Juanita Ashley, 83, Hendren Drive, DeLand, who died December 12, 2006, at Alliance Center in DeLand, will be 6 p.m. Friday, December 15, 2006, at First Baptist Church, DeLand, with Chaplain Steven DeVane of Hospice of Volusia/Flagler officiating. Internment will take place Saturday, December 16, in Lecanto, Fla.

Mrs. Ashley was born in Lecanto, August 15, 1923, and moved to Daytona Beach in 1963, then to DeLand in 1999 from Daytona Beach. She was a member of First Baptist Church, DeLand, and ARC (Association of Retarded Citizens), Daytona Beach. She loved gardening, camping and crafts.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Walter D. Ashley, DeLand; four sons, Brian Ross Ashley, Toronto, Canada, Walter D'Vaughn Ashley, Tampa, Fla., Mark Kevin Ashley, Strawberry Plains, Tenn., Gordon Donald Ashley, Elizabeth City, N.C.; three daughters, Marcia Lynn Bradford, Port Orange, Martha Ann Ashley, DeLand, Lisa Marie Ashley, DeLand; three sisters, Mattie Gibbs, Lecanto, Fla., Thelma Gibbs, Lecanto, and Jeanette Argo, LaBelle, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Sam Ashley, Jeffrey Ashley, David Ashley, Laura Ashley, Sara Ashley, Kevin Ashley, Trevor Ashley, Teresa Kovach and Billy Bradford; and four great-grandchildren.
