WEST PRESTONSBURG, Ky. - Rev. Troy Shepherd, 71, formerly of Kenton, died Tuesday morning at Highland Regional Hospital after an extended illness.
He was born April 30, 1906 in Magoffin County, Ky., to Leck and Dora Howard Shepherd. He married Ocie Conley, who survives.
Also surviving are six daughters, Pearlie Lafferty of Forest, Bernice Priddy of Findlay, Louette Shepherd of Dunkirk, Edna Mae Drennen and Nina Ann Baum, both of Kenton, and Brenda Sue Powers of here; six sons, Paul, Troy and Billie Joe, all of home, Donald and Frank, both of Orlando, Fla., and Roy of Virginia Beach, Va.; 21 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Woodrow Salyers of Prestonsburg, Ky.; and four brothers, Silas of Ada, Bradie of Prestonsburg and Vinson and Cleve, both of here.
Rev. Shepherd was an ordained minister for 25 years in the Baptist Fellowship Church of God and a retired employe of Rockwell Standard Corp. of Kenton.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Carter Funeral Home, Prestonsburg.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Hanson Funeral Home, Alger. Graveside services will be at noon Friday in McDonald-Fairview Cemetery, near Roundhead.
