Gregory entered this life on September 28, 1947 in Santa Barbara, California born to the union of the late Lloyd and Thelma (Forbes) Sutton. His formative years were spent in the state of California. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. In 1988 he moved his family to Sarcoxie, Missouri. Gregory worked in law enforcement and was a Sarcoxie City Marshall for several years. He also worked for the Sarcoxie Ambulance Service.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Harley Sutton.
Gregory is survived by his wife, Eileen Sutton of the home; a son, Wes Root and wife, Shelly, of Reeds, Missouri; five daughters, Martie Bowen and husband, Bobby, of Columbus, Mississippi, Bobbie Whittington and husband, Ron, of Monett, Missouri, Michelle Coleman and husband, Eddie, of Jackson, Mississippi, Sandy Root of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Amber Walters and husband, Tom, of Sarcoxie, Missouri; twenty-one grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two brothers, Stan Sutton of Huntington, Indiana and David Sutton of Davis, California; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Sutton are 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 15, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Sarcoxie, Missouri with Bro. Sam Wilson officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Jeff Burk, Jeff Lamastus, A.J. Lamastus, Berry West, Austin Lamastus, Johnny Mandera, Tom Walters, Garrett Roberts and Jim Lamastus. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 5-7:00 p.m. in the Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home Chapel in Sarcoxie, Missouri.
