He was born Sept. 4, 1917, in Seneca County, to George and Alma (Hartsel) Walter. He married Gladys Mae Lusk July 25, 1939, in Fremont.
Survivors include his two children,of Bronson, Mich.,and of Apache Junction, Ariz.; a daughter, of Fostoria; a sister,of Tiffin; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gladys, in 1999; three brothers, Donald Walter, Orville Walter and Kenneth Walter; and a sister, Lucille Bowersox.
Robert was a member of Union United Church of Christ, Bascom. He was a mechanic at Good Year Tire, Tiffin, and then at Gable Oil for more than 15 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of Tiffin Eagles Aerie No. 402 and VFW Post No. 2947, Fremont.
Burial will follow at Sandridge Cemetery, Bascom
