Services for Mr. Floyd B. Knight will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, November 11, 2006, at Sharp Baptist Church with Reverend Clyde Grammon, Reverend Charles Boswell and Brother Lane Fletcher officiating. Burial will be in Knight Cemetery in Sharp, Louisiana.

Mr. Knight was born on December 6, 1918 in Sharp, LA. Mr. Knight, 87 years 11 months, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at his residence in Sharp, Louisiana, with his family members by his side. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. His blessed long life expanded over five generations.

He worked in the copper mines at Miami, Arizona. Later he was employed in Plaquemines, LA by Halliburton Oil Company. He taught carpentry at the Trade School in Opelousas, LA. Then later he was employed by the Department of Transportation and Development for 31 years. After retirement he thoroughly enjoyed his grandchildren and raising a garden.

Mr. Knight served in the United States Army from 1941-1945 during WWII. During this period of time he reached the rank of Sergeant.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Joseph and Celia Beebe Knight, his brothers, Roy, Herman, J.C., Wilmer, Elmer and sisters, Norma Sweat and Agnes Nichols.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Louvenia Maxey Knight of 60 years; one daughter, Shirlene Boswell and her husband, Charles of Simpson, LA; three grandchildren, Jacqueline Kelly and husband, Kenneth of Simpson, LA, Sherwin Fletcher and wife, Tawana of Leesville, La and Shelia Stephens and husband, Jamie of Simpson, LA. Three great granddaughters, Brittany and Mackenzie Kelly and Jessica Doyle. Two great-great grandsons, Ryland and Hayden Doyle. One brother, LeRoy Knight and one sister, Sadie Jowers both of Sharp, LA.

Pallbearers will be Sherwin Fletcher, Kenneth Kelly, Sherryl Bolton, Juane Fletcher, Jerry Fletcher and Chris Maxey.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jerome Fletcher and Jamesette Kile.

Visitation will be Friday, November 10, 2006 from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. And Saturday, 9 a.m. until time of service.

Thank you is a small word but it has a big meaning ot our many family members. A sincere appreciation to those who have given us love, prayers, flowers, food, and precious time, we greatly appreciate it. We ask that you keep us in your prayers in our time of sorrow. To all of you - a very special THANKS!
