Choreographer, Director, Actor. He started his career by dancing with Alvin Ailey, Bernice Johnson and Fred Benjamin in the 1960s and 1970s. His first choreography was for Donna Summer's "Love to Love You Baby American Tour." He earned two Emmys for the Liberty Weekend Closing Ceremonies and the Jacksons' An American Dream and shared a Tony Award with Michael Bennett for the Broadway hit musical "Dreamgirls" in 1982. He made a brief appearance in Lionel Richie's "Hello" video and danced in Michael Jackson's "Beat It" directed by Bob Giraldi, which is vaguely similar to Westside Story. He co-starred as one of the leaders of a gang, also choreographed for "The Mambo Kings," "Sarafina!" and "What's Love Got to Do With It." He wrote and directed for television shows such as "Fame," "Knots Landing," "Fresh Prince of Bel Air," and acted in movies as "Sparkle," "Polly," and "The Five Heartbeats."
