Died Christmas Morning
Christmas morning, Saturday last, Mr John Cosgrove, Sr, died at his home in Detmold after a short illness of pneumonia. Mr Cosgrove's illness was noted in this correspondence about two weeks ago at which time he was reported to be suffering from pleurisy, and a few days before his death, it was thought his condition had improved and members of the family were hopeful. Pneumonia, however, is one of the most subtle diseases with which physicians have to contend and he took a turn for the worse on Friday and was not able to withstand the crisis. Mr Cosgrove had lived here practically all of his life and was aged about 48 years. He had followed the avocation of coal mining all his life and was a highly respected citizen. His widow and three children survive. Mr John Cosgrove, Jr, who has been working in Pittsburgh, came home about ten days ago, on being advised of his father's illness and has remained almost constantly beside him ever since. The funeral took place this morning. Services being held in St Mary's church at 10 o'clock, after which the funeral party went to Frostburg on the 11:13 a.m. electric cars where interment of the remains were made in that place. A large number of friends and neighbors of the deceased accompanied the family to Frostburg.
